US ambassador summoned in mobile row

Germany has summoned the US ambassador to Berlin over claims that the US monitored German Chancellor Angela Merkel's mobile phone.

Foreign minister Guido Westerwelle will personally meet US envoy John Emerson later on Thursday, reports say.
